HAPPY TURKEY DAY & THANKS TO YOUR PATIENCE IF ANYONE IS STILL LISTENING
Obviously I was never the best at this blogging stuff. I guess life happens and interferes with commerce yet again. I havent posted in oh about seven months and a lot has happened. I have moved across state lines, changed jobs, gotten a new apartment, and purchased a printing press. Said printing press sits in a studio 70 miles from where I currently reside. But I am working on that. I did a small run of shirts off of it and figured a lot of things out. I also remembered a ton of stuff which was good. Things are progressing in the right direction if rather slowly. Nevertheless they are progressing. I did some more shirt designs in June and July and sold all of the runs at local venues. I am getting ready to put some on the site. Might take a bit longer and I would like to dump some of my inventory before hand to raise a little cash and make room. Christmas is coming kids! Spend Spend Spend..Remember if you buy from me you just have to pay postage not $50 to fill up your car and drive to the mall.
Here are the designs I did this summer. I am thinking crab coon would be a good addition to what is in the store. I am about ready to take the mutant cows from outer space down.

They are left to right: Tiki Beav( the sequel) Crabcoon( Many thanks to Hieu Truong who joined the group friendsoftheunknowntshirt on face book and suggested a crab raccoon hybrid in our drawing of the week contest) and Mutant Beavers watch over us.

These two did not test so well with local audiences. They are the Bearaphant and A day of the dead style beaver skull. I am thinking of doing the bearaphant anyway.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I have to go catch some rest so I am not to tired to gorge myself silly. I will update more this weekend.
ALMOST FORGOT. I AM GOING TO HAVE T-SHIRTS IN A SHOW OF FUNCTIONAL ART AT the Eckhaus gallery in Kutztown, PA. from Dec 7th through January 6th. If you are in Kutztown and dont want a shirt stop and pick one up.
check them out at www.eckhaus.org

If you have gotten this far you might have noticed the new front page. I am going to be redoing the website piece by piece in an attempt to make it more professional looking. Not because I am professional but because I want to tighten the appearance of the site up. Enjoy the galleries while you can. I know that sounds a bit threatening but I will be removing some content and rearranging the rest of it. I will also be doing something to this Blog; perhaps adding an actual blog instead of just typing gibberish here once or twice a month. Hopefully this will all result in a better, cleaner, happier website..

Happy Valentines Day Everybody!
This is a design that I would like to print. I am looking for levels of interest? So contact me and let me know just what you think. I am not sure about the text yet. I like the font but I have to see if the designer will let me use it.

For the record the font is Kingthings Gothique and if you are in need of great free fonts for personal use you should check his stuff out at http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/Kingthings/index.htm.
Also check out this giant crazy angry bear that should be appearing soon in the impending collaboration with SEIBEI

I am painting again
So once again I suck at updating the blog. But that is ok as far as things go. My job status has upgraded over the holidays and I think things should become a little more regular around here. I am hoping to resume posting at least twice a week and get some new stuff into the store. I did this painting as a wedding present for two pf my friends who got married in the late fall-and was finally able to get it to them over the break.

Also here is a sweatshirt design I did in the fall that someone commissioned for some truck drivers. I think it turned out pretty well.

Ah yes ...I have finished at least one preliminary drawing for the Seibei- collaboration here it is. I have been doing a lot of substituting for kindergarten the past few weeks and that together with the thanksgiving holiday break wiped me out. Teaching kindergarten is like herding cats. Anyway behold the bear-bot 3000! Gundam bear battle something something....

Um...So I havent updated the blog in a while. I started substitute teaching and have been kind of busy. Our upcoming with collabo with Seibei is progressing and should bear fruit soon. I am kind of shooting to finally bring out some new shirts for the first(ish) of the new year-so stay tuned. In the menatime you should check out my updated links page because I added another clothing company and Indie- threads.com . A pretty sweet site where you can see lots of independent clothing companies, their merchandise, and their websites. In the meantime enjoy the foot fairy.

Cartoon Cartoon!
So I had this weekly contest on the sites facebook page to see who could come up with the most rediculous idea for a drawing and someone(Tracy-who will now be making all my decisions for me) decided that I should do a three panel cartoon about bears, pirates, and ninjas. There was some talk of trying to raise the bear to some kind of pop culture status but apparently that bandwagon has already been started by other people out there on the internet so I will not be jumping on it. I did however do the drawing and here it is. I am kicking around the idea of doing a weekly webcomic. let me know what you all think.

And this little guy is for Hieu who requested the crab/raccoon hybrid among other things. The psuedo blog is getting image heavy so I will have to do something about that soon.

Something new
Ok I am hoping that the old paintings page is fixed. If not I will continue plugging away at it. In the meantime enjoy this new drawing/logo duo.

Problems with the website.
So yesterday I added some of my old work to the website. However for some reason the photo gallery will not show up as images rather just as a line of htm.code. I am pretty much teaching myself web building as I go so I apologize for the inconvenience you might suffer by not being able to see my art. Please be patient and I will try and get this resolved as soon as possible. Thanks.....in the meantime here is another image to look at.

Business Cards and new sketches.
Not much is going on in the neighborhood. I have been busting out some new sketches for the collaboration project I mentioned last entry. I have also done some business card designs for a local home based jewelry business.

In other news I have updated the sketchbook today with some new stuff..
Last weekend I spent some time in Southern PA. My girlfriend and I went to field of screams in Mountville. The haunted houses were pretty good. The 3-D one has clowns which I think is hysterical. I laughed so hard I almost fell down the damn steps-But hey they are clowns they are supposed to be funny. The 3-d painting effects are pretty neat and make the walls etc. seem blurry and... well 3-dimensional if you can keep the glasses on. I do think that Shocktoberfest in Reading is way better.
Saturday night we went camping at Pine grove furnace State park. It was beautiful and not too chilly. If the weather is nice we might go camping this weekend again.

OK so I am not the best blogger in the world.
So Obviously I have not updated this quite as regularly as I planned. I am still job seeking at the moment and that is my official excuse.
Keep your eye on the site because I am going to be doing a collaboration soon with an awesome t shirt artist that I met in the spring. We are not really sure how things are going to work out yet but there should be some pretty sweet shirts coming out of it.
In the meantime I have created a three dimensional business card in the form of a mexican wrestler in a suit. What I plan on doing is sending one out with every shirt I sell along with a magnet or two and using it for general self promotion. I printed out a bunch in different colors on white card stock and used a glue stick to stick the tabs together. They have the websites name on their belt and my business info on the back. These are what they look like.

Hey! If all the cool kids are doing it why shouldn't I do it too?
By that logic I must have jumped off quite a few bridges in my time, right? Well not really but I figure you know maybe somebody out there likes the site enough to actually want to have a reason to visit every day or every other day..and lets face it I have updated this shebang twice since April . I really should have something that keeps the kids coming back. First, I thought maybe virtual internet strippers but I don't have the dollar bills to fuel our lady of perpetual lapdances at the moment so that is right out. Next I thought how about fun interactive games..but see that involves programming knowledge and time..two things that I do not possess in great quantities at the moment because my days are geared toward finding a job. Which is the SUCK..anyway the games will have to wait until I am once again gainfully employed. What that leaves in essence is something that will be easy to add to on a semi daily basis and I thought why not have a handy space to detail upcoming events, new shirts, and what is going on in my life the moment. That is right friends, detractors and prospective t-shirt buyers I aim to have a BLOG! How exciting is that??! Well Ok its not really that exciting but I like the idea anyway.
So whats in store for theunknowntshirt.com? You might even ask when in the hell will there be new shirts to purchase instead of the same collection of wonderfully quirky and strange designs in the shop now. Well I might answer " whenever I start selling enough shirts on a regular basis to buy more!" and then I might scream " go buy something now!". In all seriousness selling some more product would help things proceed in a more regular commercial course. In the mean time I have been designing some magnets and will be starting out on some stickers by the beginning of next week.
Here are some magnet images..I have no idea what they will cost. I would most likely send them off with shirts from the shop as a bit of swag .

I have a bunch more designed but these are the ones with basically new content.
Also I have a few new tshirt designs that I have been working on. These are ones that are nearing fruition. But I am interested to see what people think about them so Please feel free to comment on them. Send me an email about the designs below. Let me know if you love them or hate them, what you think of the colors etc.

This is the Mer-deer. It is an aquatic deer. I like the older feel of the text and I tried to arrange it so that it echoed the form of the deer. I am not sure whether I will put the text on the front of the shirt and then have the deer across the back or have both together on the front. Here are two color options.

Next is an octopus drawing. I am thinking using this as the first shirt I print with the websites name on it. There are 4 color combinations that I have come up with. I am partial to the purple and green one myself.

I also have a few random images that I am working with . I am not sure what the deal with the 3 eyed devil looking head is. I have taken to referring to it as the demon smurf. The other two images are of the Octa-bear.

The other thing I am working on at the moment is a suave monkey. The text is a little bit aggressive but I like it. I dont know if people would wear it or not. It might make a great sticker, who knows?

I took the monkey face and made a massive magnet with it/ it might also be a poster. I am not sure whether I will sell them or not yet.
.

Pretty pimp huh? Its holding up everything on my fridge at the moment. Well thats it for today. I have a job interview tomorrow so probably wont post. I hope something pans out soon. I am sick of going to the job center and having some guy who explains things like John Madden crossed with Arnold Schwartzeneggar show me how to log onto the computer even though I have been there many times over the last few months. I also have a few custom jobs in the works and thats cash money so the t-shirts might get put on hold for a few days.
